Chapter Nineteen

I couldn't believe that Tiza was forcing me to dress up for this whole function. It was the last thing I wanted to do. The rest of the week had been so sour for me. Jacky was one of the most shameless people I had ever come across in my lifetime. If I believed in reincarnation ,I don't think I would ever meet someone like her even in my next life. People can surely stoop low. My mother on the other hand had a totally different approach to the whole issue. She was calmer than I had expected when I had called her.

"Mum he proposed to her." I said on the other end of the line.

"Ohhh Chansa told me."

"And what did you tell him?"

"I told him that he should do what he thinks is right for him."

"I feel like we are sending him to hell with our signatures freely giving him away."

"Bupe how long was the affair between Jacky and your father?"

"About a year and a half if am not mistaken."

"When did you find out about it?"

"I found out a year after."

"Just know that everything comes to light eventually. Chansa will find out one way or the other."

"But won't he feel betrayed he finds out we knew and didn't tell him?"

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there for now we will see how this plays out. I can assure you that we aren't the only ones who know about about this. You of all people must know that you can't reason with a person in love. How many times did I warn you about Joseph?"

"You have a solid argument there." I said realising what she said.

"What's wrong?" Tiza asked.

"Am just thinking about what mum told me concerning the Jacky ,chansa issue."

"This is exactly why I insist you go on a date with Derrick to get your mind of this. There something's that you can control and others that you can't. Do you think that Chansa will listen to you?"

"I know my brother and he won't believe me I guess we will just have to see how things unfold." I said as tiza helped m zip my dress.

She helped me with her and I opted for a make up free face. I was one person who hated over doing things. Derrick showed up an hour later he looked very handsome in casual clothes.

"Thought you would be wearing a suite since its your sisters wedding."

"Nahh I prefer casual clothes. Am in a suite everyday its a breath of fresh air to be dressed like that. You look stunning as usual." He said shyly.

"Thank you, you look good too. Let's go." I said as he lead me to the car. He opened the door for me and I got in.

The church service was beautiful I almost shed a tears. These were the moments that reminded me of how single I was. Derrick held my hand at that moment. I felt so comfortable holding hands with him. I ended up having a lot of fun with Derrick, I didn't mind it when his mom asked me when we were getting married. I found myself laughing out loud when she left.

"Am sorry for that." Derrick said.

"No need, we should do this again sometime soon." I said getting out of the car.

"Its a date." Derrick said.

I hugged him and went back into the house.

3 Months later

I was looking at my wedding dress one more time. I could already Invision how I was going to look as I walked down the aisle. Yes I had convinced Chansa that it was best we get married as soon as possible. Why should we wait when we were so in love. Bupe was behaving and acting like the supportive elder sister. She was there for the Chilanga mulilo,she even picked out my kitchen party gift for me.

"You're looking at your dress again?" My cousin Norine asked.

"Its beautiful."

"Yes its a very beautiful dress."

"Am so lucky am marrying the man of my dreams."

"Yes you're so lucky you're marrying him. After sleeping with his father and aborting his brother that sure is a whole lot of luck you got going on there."

"Norine we all make mistakes. I never intended on falling in love with Chansa it just happened."

"Well if you love him as much as you claim to then telling him the truth isn't such a bad idea."

"Norine just shut the hell up. This isn't your life."

"You're right it ain't mine. I ain't as shameless as you."

Norines POV

I knew my cousin was stupid but what I didn't know was that she was shameless as well. My mother and I encouraged her time and again to stop what she was doing. I have done so many things am not proud of I helped my cousin abort an innocent life. I helped her that time but I wasn't going to let her ruin a young mans life. He didn't deserve any of this I was going to fix this even if the whole world thought I was jealous I cared less what they thought. I had enough evidence to give to Chansa. The next day I organized a dinner date with him. I wore a blue dress and black pamps. I didn't want to over do anything I was going to see my cousins fiancée after all. "Norine hai how are you?"

"Am great I wanted to see you."

"Is it concerning the the wedding? I know Jacky wants things to be perfect she's been going crazy about things the last few months."

"I don't think you should marry Jacky. She's been keeping something from you."

"What?"

"She slept with your father."

"Jacky wouldn't do that. You are just jealous of her Norine. Find a man for yourself. Don't ruin this for Jacky and i . I know your cousin loves and respects you a lot so I've decided to ignore this."

"Before you ignore this completely ask your mum. Am sure she has a better version of events I said walking way.
